Our volunteers are at the heart of what we do
From talking to people about their experiences of health and social care, to writing reports, to updating our social media - volunteers are vital to our work. Whether you have a few hours to spare or are looking for a regular commitment, we've got a volunteering role to suit you.
Current volunteering opportunities
Take a look at our current volunteering opportunities:
Healthwatch Advisory Committee Member
Your Voice in Health and Social Care (YVHSC) are looking for local residents interested in becoming part of Healthwatch Bromley. We are looking for people to join our Advisory Committee with local knowledge, experience and passion for promoting better health and social care for local people.
The committee acts as an advisory group supporting the local staff team with projects and monitoring the progress of the service. The Healthwatch Advisory Committee also plays important representational and public relations roles working with local communities and key partners to drive influence and impact, and improve health and social care services for residents.
Community Engagement Volunteer
As a Community Engagement volunteer, you will be taking a lead in helping us reach people, contributing to our Patient Experience and Emerging Communities Programmes. This role is ideal if you like talking and interacting with people, are passionate about the voice of the local communities and believe in equality.
Community Research Volunteer
The Community Research volunteer plays a key role in our deep-dive studies helping us bring the patient experience to life. The role requires collecting, logging, analysing, and reporting on feedback from our local community. The research we conduct helps to shed light on inequalities and other issues within local health and social care provision. As a result of our research, we publish a set of recommendations to our health and social care partners.
Data, Evidence, and Insight Volunteer
Our Evidence & Insight department is bringing together data from across our six Healthwatch services to analyse, investigate, draw out and report upon any collective themes and trends. A Data, Evidence and Insight volunteer will work with this large data set, manipulating and analysing it for interesting findings. With a particular focus on improving our understanding of inequalities this role will help deepen our knowledge and insight across a range of topics and areas. Key to its success is translating this data and the resulting findings into engaging, accessible infographic reports and presentations.
Marketing & Communications Volunteer
This role is an opportunity to assist in creating and posting content across social media, websites, and print media. Those looking for further skills will have the opportunity to develop strategies with the aim of increasing brand awareness and customer engagement for Healthwatch Bromley as well as analysing long-term needs and outlining necessary changes to our social media strategy.
Signposting & Information Volunteer
We provide information about local health and social care services to residents in Bromley, typically by phone, email, and post. In our signposting, we also try to help service users understand what they can expect from the NHS and other health and care services. This includes information to help people understand any choices they may have regarding these services.
The Signposting & Information volunteer role supports our delivery of Healthwatch Bromley in three main ways:
- To help deliver the Healthwatch information service, answering questions from the public by telephone, email, post, and social media.
- To provide information and signposting to local people to help them navigate health and social care services in the borough and be able to raise their concerns
- To support other Healthwatch work, and projects related to information for the public and gathering views of NHS and care services
Voluntary Trained Observer
Healthwatch services have a statutory function to carry out Enter and View visits to health and care services to review services at the point of delivery. This involves visiting with a team of representatives to observe the service, view the premises and talk to both staff, patients/residents, carer and relatives. Visits involve using all the senses and going through questions and surveys. Enter & View visits often take place at care homes but can cover a range of services such as hospital wards, community clinics and support groups.
You will receive full training on how to perform an Enter and View visit.
Website Support Volunteer
Our website forms a key part of our work enabling us to engage people, prompt them to share their experiences with us, provide them with information and signposting, share important local health and social care news and showcase our studies and reports, detailing how we use their voices to help shape and improve health and care services.
This role will focus on supporting the ongoing updates and development of our website as a key platform for the service.
